A dedicated Godzilla fan pays tribute to the Kaiju’s iconic nemesis by painstakingly designing their own Mechagodzilla Halloween costume.
This Halloween The Godzilla devotee honored the famous franchise by designing their own Mechagodzilla costume.

Kai-Zilla or @dr_kaju featured the costume on Twitter. Kai-Zilla donned the costume at G-Fest (also called Godzilla Fest), an annual festival that is themed around Godzilla, and other franchises in the Kaiju genre. Three of the photos include Kai-Zilla with his father in the costume of TARS one of the humanoid tactical robots from 2014’s science-fiction film, Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan.

Following his debut in the year 1974’s Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla directed by Jun Fukuda, Mechagodzilla was a staple of the Godzilla series. This film’s plot centered around Godzilla’s showdown with the metallic titan after aliens invented it intending to use it to help in their invasion of Earth. Mechagodzilla was featured in a variety of film adaptations, both real and animated, such as Godzilla City on the Edge of Battle, Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2, Godzilla vs. Kong 2021, and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2 (1993). The character was also featured in the 2011 science-fiction novel Ready Player One written by Ernest Cline and its titular 2018 film adaptation with the direction of Steven Spielberg.
The 2002 film Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla directed by Masaaki Tezuka made its U.S. debut on November 3, which is internationally recognized as “Godzilla Day.” The screening was held in more than 450 cinemas across the country. Fans were able to enjoy the original Japanese version with English subtitles, and also an exclusive featurette that has never been seen before. On the same day, Godzilla guests at G-Fest had the opportunity to view the world premiere of the film Godzilla Festival Gigan Attackdirected Kazuhiro Nakagawa ( Godzilla Vs. Hedorah). Nakagawa produced the film to mark the 50th anniversary of the feature film’s predecessor, Godzilla vs. Gigan which was directed by Jun Fukuda.

Godzilla Fans Got a Bunch of Good News
Toho has confirmed they are working on a new Godzilla film in development. Takashi Yamazaki, who worked for Toho’s previous Godzilla film Shin Godzilla is set to serve as the director of the film. While the film doesn’t have a title or current working title but it has a scheduled release date of Nov. 3, 2023. The sequel to Legendary Pictures Godzilla vs. Kongis being filmed with a release date set for March 15th, 2024.
