A Beetlejuice cosplayer sports a frighteningly perfect red wedding dress that was inspired by Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz.

@_andthemoon_ A cosplayer from Los Angeles, attended WonderCon 2023 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. She wore the dress Ryder wore in the 1988 Tim Burton comedy classic’s finale. The iconic moment from the film was Deetz being forced by Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) to marry him in order that he can raise chaos in the real world. The actress perfectly captures Deetz’s gothic, introverted look from her hairstyle to makeup and her identical red outfit.

Burton’s Beetlejuice, his second major release from the studio after 1985’s Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, was an enormous success. The film told the story of the Maitlands the couple that have lost their way (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) and whose home is occupied by the youthful Deetz Family, as well as their outsider child Lydia. In search of a way to drive the Deetz out of the house and out of the house, the Maitlands turn towards “bio-exorcist” Beetlejuice for help only to face unintended consequences for saying the name three times. Beetlejuice earned $74 million in the USA on a budget of $15 million. It reignited Keaton’s fame and made Ryder a star.
